Let's Start Something Remarkable.
Why are we creating Stagecraft Academy? Because we care about the up and coming generations of theatre professionals. Because undergrad students leave college without the skills they need to get the gigs. Because performers and techs new to the industry oftentimes still don't have the skills to get the gigs they really want. And because many of us at the top of our fields within the industry would love to give back, but don't have a great outlet for it. Enter Us. And Enter You.
We are assembling a great catalog of instructors and courses to provide a top-notch private education for future generations of theatre students, in as many areas as possible. We are on boarding instructors for technical focuses, management and administration, and even onstage courses. In building this collection of instructors from across the industry, we will become the only place where students can choose from so many experienced teachers to learn in their own way and at their own pace.
One of the tenets that is important to us is to effectively offer an overwhelming number of courses that do not compete with each other, except so far as someone may have choices of learning different methods of a discipline (acting, for instance).
The solution was clear to us from the start. We are building a course catalog, much like a university, but with no core classes -- only specialized classes by subject matter experts. Thus, a Beginning Lighting course will be LX 101 and be the only one on offer, but a second lighting instructor may offer supplemental courses for beginners that become LX 102, LX 103, etc.
Another major benefit to this method is the ability to help students understand how advanced a class is compared to their current knowledge level, as the course levels can proceed to the 200's, 300's, etc., and leaves room for courses by special guest teachers, and more philosophical courses taught by people beyond the spectrum of a given field.
You teach your course in your way. We will advise or give a little input here and there, but largely, you're the expert in your field (although we have a pretty broad experience ourself), so we trust you to know the best way to teach the material. Courses can be a mix of text, video, audio, powerpoint presentations, and just about anything else you can think of.
Build the content once and then teach it repeatedly with limited time investment, just student interactions, grading and answering questions.
Teach 1, 2 or 10 courses simultaneously. It's up to you. Schedule courses around a big project. We've got you covered!
Our goal is to enable you to get paid for sharing your knowledge with the next generation. Go live and get paid per student... forever.
We've formulated a plan that we think is fair to everyone. Here's what we're brewing:
Prices are appropriate to small, medium and large courses, and keep some continuity between similar courses. You are in control of how much you make per student.
We aren't going to give away the store, but we have some discounts in mind that should actually generate more sales. You'll see them in our Agreement.
We each get certain enrollments for promo/scholarship use, but it's in proportion to the paid students. Instructors also enjoy a mutual discount for other courses - welcome to the club!
We want you to make more money than us. That's the truth. But running big servers, marketing and processing credit cards isn't cheap, either. So here's where we are: 75% to you. 25% to us. Sound fair?
Click Here to open the Course Proposal form. Fill it out one for each course that you are interested in teaching, no matter whether you want to teach them immediately or down the road.
We will approve or deny courses as we feel that they fit appropriately in the course catalog (trust us, we want your courses!). Once your first course is approved, you'll receive an invite to login and begin building the course content. If you lose your email and need help finding where to log in, you can find that HERE.
